"The Unexpected Bridegroom"

My third book is tentatively titled  "The Unexpected Bridegroom."  But it's not a sequel!

Love thwarted by bodysnatchers.

Lady Evangeline Buchanan is determined to marry Viscount Lionel Southey. They had been childhood friends, and she assumes marriage is only a proposal away. When she discovers Lord Southey is betrothed to another, she has to save him, knowing he cannot possibly love another. Desperate, she plans to kidnap the viscount on the eve of his wedding and hie him away to Gretna Green where they can be married before anyone can stop them.

Unbeknownst to Evangeline, her Uncle Reggie had arranged a betrothal between his niece and the Earl of Bevondard. Before the marriage can take place, Lord Bevondard is sickened with consumption and at his death bed, his younger brother, Simon Cumberlane, the new Earl of Bevondard,  agrees to honor the betrothal.

Months later, on Viscount Southey’s wedding eve, he and his cousin, Lord Bevondard, are traveling to a private soiree, when Evangeline's kidnappers mistakenly take Simon for the viscount.

Imagine Evangeline's surprise when who shows up to marry her but Simon, whom she had met briefly at the viscount’s home. After he convinces her to marry him because of the betrothal and the threat of scandal if they aren't wed, they return home to begin a new life. But Evangeline still imagines herself in love with Lionel and to complicate matters, Lionel's new bride and her uncle may be part of a gang of bodysnatchers causing havoc in the county. Lionel needs Evangeline's help  to save his wife from prison or worse, and Simon will wonder where his wife's true affection lies.

Simon will need every trick, every courting ritual, every sweet word to entice Evangeline to be his properly married wife and forget Lionel. And during their wedding courtship, Evangeline and Simon will have to work together to stop the bodysnatchers before murder occurs.  Along the way, Simon may just kidnap Evangeline's heart.

WIP: The Reluctant Bride

Miss Lorna MacDougal has arrived in London from Pondicherry, India to find her brother who disappeared several months ago.  She learned from a friend of her brother's that John was involved with the Suicide Club and fears he may be dead.  While searching for information about her brother among the ton, she also plans to find a husband for her cousin, Henrietta, who wants nothing more than to return to Pondicherry and the sweetheart she left behind.  In Lorna's search for her brother, she'll cross paths with Lord Weberley, and believing he's on the wrong path to no return, she'll try to save him, whether he needs saving or not.

Peter Jenkins, Marchess of Weberley, out for a night on the town, gets drunk, and is set upon by thieves who leave him unconscious on the steps of the Suicide Club.  A  touch of amnesia later finds Peter in Miss MacDougal's home as she plans to save him from committing suicide.   At first amused to play along, he soon finds himself attracted to his savior, but to complicate matters, she thinks he is her lost brother, since they are similar in appearance.

Peter, when not gaming or drinking or generally carousing, must find the head of the Suicide Club to prevent further murders and discover who killed his best friend. He lies his way into membership in the club to search for answers.

When Miss MacDougal joins the Suicide Club believing it's the only way to find out what happened to her her brother, one of them will be marked a murderer and the other the victim. Will Peter be able to save Lorna or will another life be forfeit in a very dangerous game of life or death?
